Dosage of Ansaid: An Introduction
The dose of
Ansaid® (
flurbiprofen) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- The medical condition you are being treated for
- Other medical conditions you may have
- Other medications you may be currently taking.
As always, do not adjust your Ansaid dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis
The recommended starting dosage of Ansaid for most people with
rheumatoid arthritis or
osteoarthritis is 200 mg per day. This daily dose is divided into smaller doses taken two, three, or four times a day. The maximum dose of Ansaid that should be taken at one time is 100 mg.
Your healthcare provider will usually start with a smaller daily dose. If the pain is still present after several weeks, your healthcare provider may choose to increase your dose. If the pain still does not improve, he or she may recommend other options for pain relief.
If you are taking Ansaid to help relieve
arthritis symptoms, such as joint inflammation, it may take one to two weeks for it to work to its full potential. However, Ansaid helps to relieve pain in about one hour.
